WRAP extends lease in Braun Court

The WRAP Resource Center Board of Directors announced that it has signed a threemonth extension of its lease at its current location at 319 Braun Court in Ann Arbor.

Recently, WRAP has hosted several community meetings that have generated discussion about its mission and focus. WRAP has developed a plan for a comprehensive evaluation that includes involving a broad range of its constituents. WRAP will continue these community meetings to invigorate its focus on its three main functions: providing meeting space for groups, providing information about LGBTQ resources in the community, and hosting events.

"I'm thrilled with how the community has come forward with such great energy to assist WRAP as it defines its current and future role within the LGBTQA community in Washtenaw County and southeastern Michigan," said Michael G. McGuire, president of WRAP, in a statement.

Keith Orr, long-time supporter and coowner of WRAP's building, expressed his satisfaction with the agreement. "Martin (Contreras) and I are pleased that WRAP is staying in Braun Court for the near future," he said in a statement. "We have always liked the synergy between WRAP, Common Language, and the \aut\ BAR in Braun Court. That synergy will help support WRAP's ongoing mission. The flexibility of the extension gives WRAP the opportunity to move forward with their community service."

This agreement allows WRAP to continue to offer essential services to the groups that meet at the resource center: confidential HIV testing with the HIV/AIDS Resource Center (HARC), stop-by-the-office hours, meetings of the books clubs, the Next Generation of Kinksters, Older Lesbians Organizing, Lesbian Moms Network, and more.

The next community meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Oct. 2 at the WRAP Office at 319 Braun Court.
